&lt;br /&gt;
I do want to point out that the vast majority of abuse survivors do NOT become abusers themselves. Yes, most (if not all) abusers WERE abused as children, but most abuse survivors either lead broken lives or do the hard work of healing from the abuse without ever harming a child. &lt;br /&gt;

As an abuse survivor myself, this is a &quot;hot topic&quot; for me. Yes, the odds increase toward becoming an abuser if you grow up in a dysfunctional home and don&#039;t get counseling. However, my sister and I had all of the odds stacked against us, and yet neither of us would EVER hurt a child. In fact, we are known for passionately protecting children and being overprotective of our own kids. :0)&lt;br /&gt;
