Most likely your foster children had never experienced these things I’ve mentioned and every child deserves to have these experiences. Yes it can make these events more stressful by involving a foster child (I’ll be writing about ways to ease the process, so keep checking back.) It does not mean it cannot be done and the foster child would be successful. People, we take this job as a foster parent so we need to do what is right by the child and what that child deserves. Remember it is a job as a parent and a foster parent. How I think about it is would I put my own child in day care for the same reason I want to put a foster child there. Now after saying all that, I do know there can be different circumstances and issues that a foster family or child has to deal with. This can impact their involvement in different activities.

My daughter had a birthday party at the very loud busy pizza place for children with rides, games, music, etc.. At this time we had two little foster boys that that were brothers one of them was autistic and could not deal with the environment of the party and would have taken both me and my husband to deal with this one child which would not have been fair to any of the other children. So this foster child stayed with a family friend during the party and he had a great time at their house.

With dealing with special needs children or autistic children things can change. I had five other small children including the autistic child so I had to make sure that I could always care for protect all of the children when I was away from home.
