November is an Important Month for Foster Care

November is a busy and important month for foster care agencies because of National Adoption Day. Caseworkers are scrambling to finish up any paperwork for their upcoming adoptions. They are trying to move all cases that are being finalized on National Adoption Day to an adoption placement. This can be an almost impossible time to reach a caseworker or other child welfare personal. I am adopting on this day and I am still having issues tracking down caseworkers and other workers concerning my adoption.

While the child welfare system tends to be the one always getting a bad wrap which they most likely deserve, this day and event is different. Child welfare agencies bust their back sides getting things lined up for these foster children to be adopted on National Adoption Day. They line up the attorneys for the adoptive parents, plan celebrations at the court houses, and makes sure our special day is problem free (at least for the most part). Some agencies are still working right up to the week of National Adoption Day trying to get the adoptive families the subsidies they need and qualify for and trying to find any last minute paperwork that is needed. Believe me when you think you have everything done, or the paperwork is taken care of, something pops up somewhere else that has to be taken care of.

Thanks to all the caseworkers, child welfare agencies, adoption personnel, judges, attorneys, and anyone else helping out or donating their time for these amazing events for our families. Everything that is done to make this a special day is greatly appreciated. It is so easy to get caught up in the event and forget the people that made it happen. You are touching the hearts of the foster child and adoptive families more than you can never begin to imagine. God bless each one of you and thanks from the bottom of the hearts of every foster child and adoptive family being blessed by your actions.
