I wrote an article about foster children’s
therapies. Early Childhood Intervention is a program that deals with all the therapies that I’ve discussed. Talk with your foster child’s doctor about any areas that you are concerned about and they can put you in touch with the agency in your area.
I liked the therapy for a few reasons, it was in my home, they worked with you as the parent to give you skills to help the child cope with their behaviors, it was a more relaxed setting which leads you to be more open (at least it did for me). I did not like every therapist I had, but I would ask for a different therapist.
The behavior therapist we were blessed to have was a Godsend. I do not know if we would have made it without her guidance and support. We did not seem to be judged as parents or our parenting ability as we have dealt with from other therapists. The best things we’ve learned is how to cope with different behaviors and the child’s disability.
SPONSOR
Women, Infant and Children (WIC) in your area can provide formula, cereals and juices for infants. Children will receive juices, eggs, beans, milk, cheese and in some areas during the summer you maybe able to receive fresh fruits and vegetables (grown in the USA). You will receive these benefits on a monthly basis. Every several months you will have to go do paperwork to re-qualify and then your next visit (mostly every three months) you have take classes on nutrition (maybe like 30 to 45 minutes). You can also call your WIC office to ask for emergency formula for a newly placed infant until your scheduled appointment. Be sure and share with them these are your foster children in some areas their benefits are not based on your family income or situation and every foster child receives individual benefits.
