In some case bio families has some say over some things. How much depends on a few things.

Bio families can have a say in a child hair cut but not all do become involved in this. I have only had one bio mother get upset with about cutting her child’s hair. The child came in care with long thick hair that was matted and the worst case of lice my doctor had seen. Her lice could have been seen very easily, they were the size of large fleas (kid you not). I had treated her five times without eliminating them and in the process I had to treat myself and my other five children. My doctor said I could only treat her once more with chemicals and one of the problems she felt was the length and condition of her hair. I found someone that would cut her hair (not easily with lice) and we decided that cutting half the length of her hair off would get the damage hair off. I spent over six hours combing each strand and picked off nit with my fingers. Thank God after this she was lice free. This little girl looked beautiful with her haircut, you could see her face not a matted mess of hair covering her face. Bio mother was very mad when she saw her daughter. The caseworker then questioned me about why I cut her hair and why I did not call her. I explained why I did it and that I have never had to call a caseworker to get a child’s haircut. The caseworker stated that bio mom wanted to be informed and be involved in any haircuts. Personally to me this is crazy, this bio mother was irresponsible by physically abusing her child, neglecting her daughter’s hair and health by allowing her daughter to become infested with lice the size of bugs. Not to mention this cost me over $150 out of my pocket
