California ETV Program

You may be eligible for funding of up to $5000 per year while you are in college or a vocational or technical training program!
You may qualify if:
You are 18, 19 or 20 years old.
You are in foster care or you were in foster care as a teenager and you are a US citizen or qualified non-citizen
You aged out of the foster care system at age 18 or were adopted from foster care with adoption finalization after your 16th birthday.
You have been accepted into or are enrolled in a degree, certificate or other program at a college, university, technical or vocational school and you show progress towards that degree or certificate.

California Chafee Grant Program

The Chafee ETV program provides resources specifically to meet the educational
and training needs of Title IV-E eligible foster youth. The Chafee ETV program
offers up to $5,000 per year for post secondary education and training to assist
youth with skill development needed to lead independent and productive lives.
To qualify for the Chafee ETV program, a youth must have received or was
eligible to receive Independent Living Program (ILP) services between the ages
of 16-19, and not reach their 22nd birthday as of July 1 of the current year. Youth
can continue to participate in the Chafee ETV program until they turn 23 years of
age if enrolled in a post secondary education or training program and making
satisfactory progress toward completion of that program.
