It is so easy to say that biological parents that have children in foster care deserve extra help to get their children back. When the reality is that it is not that cut and dry. Most foster parents support family reunification when it is in the best interest of the children. Remember, the foster parents are the ones that deal with the trauma and pain that the abuse has caused these children. We see the damage first-hand that these biological parents have caused their children and the lasting impact on the children.
There is a large number of biological parents that have made some bad choices and decisions concerning the care of their children that end up in the state's custody. These parents have a decision to make with two different choices.
One choice the biological parents have is to accept the responsibility of their mistakes and learn from them. Learn good parenting skills, anger management, or decision making by accepting help and attending classes. They need to understand how they got into this situation. If there are personal areas of their lives that need to be worked on, and they seek the help to deal with the problems.

They need to be active in the visits that are set up for their children that are living in foster care. They spend time interacting and bonding with their children during visits.
When a biological parent is putting forth the effort and working on their plan to get their children back they deserve additional help, time and support. The truth is this takes a real commitment on the parent’s part and in most cases in the process can be a challenge for the biological parents. Trying to get their life together while working or trying to find work, parenting classes, counseling, visits, and hearings is a lot for parents to try and manage.
Most foster parents would like to see more biological parents like this putting forth the effort for their children and believe they should get the additional help to reunite the families.
